21 1400UT July 09. Horta 280 miles.
Despite doing some good miles through the water in the last 48 hours, we
have been singularly unable to point at Horta until about 3 hours ago when
the long awaited veer arrived. We are now heading straight to it at very
good boat speed with our ETA of Thursday still in tact - just!
Both Andy and I have decided that we need a break from this sailing lark
for a couple of days because we both feel the need to have a walk and sit on
something that isn't moving - preferably where they sell beer. Also, added
to my nocturnal planetary confusions we now have Andy seeing container ships
in the fog - honest it was there! I think that, if we don't have some shore
leave soon then it will be an extended stay in the mid-Atlantic secure rest
home for the permanently baffled for the pair of us
Thinking of the future, Jemima, as always, is behaving beautifully but we
have a few jobs to do in Horta to make sure she is fighting fit for the last
leg. One facility that we now discover is available to us is a very nice
lady to whom you give a large back of stinking horrors and 10 euros. She
magically transforms them back into clothes! Sounds like a bargain.
