Saturday. More boatwork after a leisurely start was undertaken. Paul had
to ascend the mast one more time to look for the annoying Genoa halyard
chafe point but still no luck. This remains a mystery. We changed the
halyard as it is looking tired, for the old mainsail halyard and hope this
will resolve the very annoying creaking we have been getting when at sea,
from the halyard. It was a good chance to check split pins and spreaders at
close range and all was found to be well.
The engine received some TLC and fresh oil as we think it will be needed
plenty on the final leg. It has now run faultlessly for 430 hours since
leaving Guardamar in March.
We were invited onboard TAMARIND for a drink by Mervyn and wife, who had
arrived that morning. We were accompanied by Huib, from OSTAR yacht VIJAYA,
himself still single handed and taking a slow route back to Holland, with
next port of call Falmouth. We 3 then enjoyed a meal in Peter Sport cafe
and a nightcap on Jemima, so we were a little late to bed! Huib was another
OSTAR competitor who marvelled at the fridge and home comforts of our lovely
boat.
