Hi
Its mission completed as far as a successful conclusion to OSTAR 2009 is
concerned. We managed to complete the course in one piece in a little over
28 days of highly interesting and challenging sailing, covering something
over 3550 nm in the process. Fog, ice and gales predominated but calms,
dolphins and whales also featured. Having spent just over a week resting in
Newport RI, I am waiting for the arrival of my return crew, Paul, who is my
son-in-law and knows this boat pretty well, so I am looking forward to a
less challenging return passage via the Azores to the boat's Mediterranean
base of Guardamar del Segura, near Alicante.
As its 4th July here shortly and we have a few more repair tasks to
complete, Paul and I expect to sail 5th July, after enjoying the firework
displays from our temporary swinging mooring here at Newport.
