We sailed at 1145 Eastern US time Monday and immediately changed ship's time
to UT, so yesterday felt a little odd! Its now 0845 UT but dawn is barely
starting to break. With no wind at all overnight and typical heavy fog its
been a slow start but at least we are able to engage gears whilst charging
the batteries, so have maintained 4.5 knots at just over 1200 rpm throughout
the night. We were close to the Queen Mary 2 and heard her chatting to a
Portuguese sail training ship in the fog. It's also been amazing to hear
clearly, both New York and Boston CG transmissions on the VHF. The new
antenna fitted over last winter must be a cracker.
Saw the first dolphins of this trip overnight too. A very full moon and
stars were with us, despite the fog because the nature of this fog means its
thick at sea level but not very deep.
Andy & Paul and its now Paul's watch.
