Hello!
We thought that by now we would have everything sorted and we would know
when we would be home - not so!!
It is proving very frustrating trying to get Mollie on a ship to NI! So
far we have heard from 2 companies re a price and we hope to hear from a
third tomorrow and then we will move on it. Once this is done we can book
a date for our travel.
Just to keep your interest (or boredom!) levels up here are a few more
random reflections which have stuck in our minds!
- all the bridges and tunnels in Italy and Sicily have names
- rubbish is piled on the street in sicily - no bins
- in Tunisia the slaughtered sheep and goats are hanging in the restaurant
- petrol in Libya was 9p/l
- in Sudan each public place had a communal water bin with one cup which
was replaced in the bin after use
- on arrival in Karima the Italian run guest house was closed as the owner
was in Italy so we were sent away despite pleading our case. Later we
discovered the Italians who had been close on our tail had also gone there
later the same day and had been allowed to sleep in the guest house for
free - grr
- dead animals - including dogs, cows ans camels were just left to die
where thy fell
- in the heat we drank so much pepsi and we don't even like it
- being stuck in a flooded river waiting for help
- the explosive lightening in Ethiopia
- when we crossed the border into Kenya and discovered no petrol so
crossed back into ethiopia to get some
- when we arrived (in the dark due to Mollie problem) at Marsabit the
policeman at the security check asked us if we were the last car to come
through on the road that evening
- Stephen's longing for bacon - he had to wait to Kenya for that
- when I washed out our undies after the stay at Kedesh we appreciated the
meaning of the saying 'ants in your pants'
Enough!!
Next time I really hope we have a date for home!
Love
S&H
