Title: 2200 miles

Saturday the 12th we set off in the heavy rain! We travelled as far as Carcassoonne before finding a campsite. Thankfully we got the last space in the site, although without electricity. How glad we were!  The rain still heavy at this stage.
Next morning the rain had stopped but strong winds were blowing!  The scenery changed as we approached Italy-very pretty. Stephen was keen to cross the border before Bastille Day so we did!  Finding accommodation in Italy has proved the most trying thing yet! Suzi (our sat-nav-igator!) has sent us to some hairy places - she obviously doesn't appreciate Mollie's limitations!!  Stephen had to negotiate some tight turns to get us out of where she sent us! Eventually we found a hotel in San Remo where the staff were very helpful and took a great interest in our trip. Recommend Arniston Montecarlo, San Remo if you are passing through!.
Monday morning, refreshed, we set off.  'Suzi' gave us great directions to Pescara but we lost count of the number of tunnels and viaducts until we reached flatter ground close to Alessanria.  Amazing engineering feats! Beautiful scenery. We got as far as Reggio - 'Suzi' led us on a wild goose chase looking for accomm. again!  We found a place ourselves as we were driving along!
Tuesday we clocked 2000 miles -close to Bologna- and made good progress on flatter roads.  Later in the day the tunnels and viaducts reappeared and the wind was a problem for Stephen driving.  We just slowed down and found a campsite in a peaceful place (not sure where!-near Pescara) whilst on another one of 'Suzi's' wild goose chases!!
God has definitely been guiding us thus far. Think I'm going to learn Psalm139 by heart.
Today we are having a rest day in this place and hope to visit Sangro River War Cemetery where an uncle of mine is buried. The only noise is the incessant sound of crickets but it is quite theraputic!
Mollie has coped really well with all that 'Suzi' has asked of her!  Stephen has done all the driving so far and glad of the rest today. He is delighted with Mollie! We have now showered in Mollie so all the preparation has paid off.
Hope this gives you a little flavour of the trip so far!  Please keep praying for us as we move on tomorrow.
Love S&H
